Here are my keys for getting ready
to play on game day:
1. Be sure to do everything slow. That means brushing your teeth slow and even driving to the course a little slower than normal (I want to be at the course 1.5 hours before my tee time).
2. Start at the putting green with long putts (don't cheat, no short putts allowed yet).
3. Head to the range, start with short wedges then work up to the driver. Remember to swing slower than you normally do on the range, this will set your pace for the day. (I warm up with only six clubs; SW, 8ir, 5ir, 3ir, 3wd, Driver)
4. Back to the putting green, this time you are working on short putts (inside 8 feet). You goal here is to make as many putts as you can, you want to hear that ball go in to gain confidence. I rarely practice medium length putts.
5. Arrive at the first tee a few minutes early. You want to have a few minutes to visualize the tee shot. Usually the butterflies are flying in the stomach, this is a good thing. Learn to love the butterflies and you will be better from the first tee.
